this week is a write-off

Please forgive for not writing this week! I'm extremely busy with projects, and I do miss blogging. At least I'll have a lot to bombard your minds with when I come back! I'm working on a marketing plan for a course. It's due on Halloween. At the same time I'm trying to organize Halloween plans and study for a quiz! Then there's also a million other projects.

The one due on Halloween is pretty interesting. I'm making a marketing plan for a fashion consulting business. It's much fun! Oooh.. and incorporated into my busy schedule, I'll be at Vancouver Fashion Week next week! Love you. xoxo. <3

people!!!! fashion goes from head to toe!!

I don't know about you but I find it so weird when people dress up but their hair does not match their outfit, or their toes are not painted while wearing open toe shoes! Just a reminder, just because you're outfit is hot, does not mean the rest of you is. Pay attention and work on the small touches such as a cute hair accessory into your voluminous locks. Every little bit counts in the world of fashion. Not saying that I dress up every day, because sometimes, being a girl, you want to have those scrubby feel fat days. But when dressing up, make sure you take a quick look in the mirror. Look presentable! This is also known as GROOMING. And please don't look like a gypsy with a million and one accessories. That's just straight tacky! Oh and one last thing, please don't spray 10 squirts of your Vera Wang Princess perfume on yourself. Either you didn't shower or you naturally smell bad and you are trying to show everyone that you own one designer perfume. Do your neighbours a favour and stop making them sick! :) Blame this post on the girl I saw on the bus today! <3

funny fact from this weekend

So I got my Dior glasses and I'm in love with them! They look soo good (in a non cocky way). Anyways, that's not the fact. My Dad was looking for a pair of sunglasses and guess what ones he ended up picking....

...The Classic Ray Ban Wayfarers. Haha way to go Dad. He got them shipped from Italy!! So sick. Yep yep I will be borrowing these bad boys. Don't be surprised if they "accidentally" go missing Dad! <3

but you're just a boy..

I don't get why guys think that if you give them the slightest glance they can come hit on you. Okay, maybe not the slightest glance but you know what I mean. I met someone this year and we're just on a friend basis, and through a text message, apparently he was thinking about me today and it made him put a smile on his face. Yeah yeah real sweet, but really? That's really random. Considering I just met you. I'm sorry, but I'm not that kind of girl who wants to hear that kind of stuff. It's actually a turn off for me especially when I just met you. WIERD! Don't get me wrong, I love boys but what the eff are they thinking sometimes. Play it cool, it makes the girls want you more boys! And the same goes for girls. Works everytime. <3

fashion facts

Here are some interesting fashion facts which I found absurd. Something mindless to read before you start the new week.

  • The modern era of perfume began in 1921. This was Coco Chanel's classic Chanel No. 5
  • Fashion designers of the 1500s didn't have models. Instead they showed their designs by creating doll clothes, like miniature versions of their designs and take them to shows
  • Approximatley 200 years ago, children only started to have clothes distinct from those of adults. Before the used to just wear miniature versions of adult clothing
  • In the 18th century fake eyebrows were fashionable. They were made of mouse skin!
  • Today's average woman uses 6 pounds of lipstick in a year. What most do not know is that an ingredient frequently used in manufacturing lipsticks is fish scales.

featured artist: Lillian Bassman

I came across Lillian Bassman's wonderful photography/art and immediately fell in love. She's a legendary fashion photographer and art director in the early 90s.

street steeez

Oops, I've been disclosing some info from you boys. Livestock is having its bi-annual sale from Oct 25th - 27th! You still have one more day! There is up to 70% off! It's all boy street style stuff, but lately I've been finding sicker guy clothes than girls. Too bad I don't have someone to buy it for, and I definitely wouldn't wear it! <3

ballin!! ...literally

LeBron James approached Ralph Lauren to make a deal with him. So here's the deal. For $1000 a Purple Label Division basketball can be purchased. It's a limited edition and it's signed by LeBron James himself. 100% of the proceeds go to LeBron James Family Foundation. Who would buy this? Who knows, some crazy NBA fanatic? Not me that's for sure. But it is purple! <3

messy messy

Wow.. I haven't really ever had a bad hang over, but I think today would be it. After a hard long week, I went out last night. I got absolutely hammered really meaning not to. It just happened. I didn't even have to spend a single cent! It was great. Let's just say the night was really retarded. It was dancing the night away. As per usual when I go out. It was my friends birthday and he had to go home at 11 because he couldn't even hold himself up. Just reeeetarded! I also saw a bunch of people from school which was kind of weird because we're such nerds when it comes to school then we're just tossing drinks left, right and centre.

P.S. Friday I finished my Halloween costume! I good to go! Halloween is in 5 days!! AHHH so exciting <3

sticking to the theme of MK & A

So I guess I've become intrigued by Mary-Kate & Ashley. I'm am in love love LOVE with their 2 clothing lines. One of them is Elizabeth and James, named after their other siblings and the other line is named The Row. I love both.

THE City

Yep THE City is New York. My home to be. Anyways, Whitney from the Hills is going to have her own spin off series named The City. It's about her taking on a PR job for Diane von Furstenberg. What is it with her climbing up the fashion social ladder?! I'm tremendously jealous!!!! Personally, I've only seen one side to Whitney which was asking LC questions on The Hills. She seemed pretty blaaah.. But the season trailer seems pretty heaty! She's the new Lauren! :O! Anyways, here's the trailer! <3

the young and rich

Yep, I like watching Oprah. I used to watch it all the time (this was ages ago when I had more time). Today I came home early from school and managed to catch Oprah! It was based on young millionaires. Mary-Kate and Ashley were featured on the show. I use to not like them, as many do, but I've been liking them more and more. I see them as fashion icons as they have 2 clothing lines, and they have just built a fashion empire all at the age of 22. They started working the screens at 6 months old! I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little jealous. Oooh and their book (I featured it on a post previously. It's called Influence) is something I really really want. I dunno, say what you like. I like them. <3

Stylista Review

So I got around to watching the Stylista show today!! Omg. I would love to be on that show or perhaps having a job of that sort. The environment and the fast pace seems to suit me. I'm disappointed in some of the people which they chose. I mean they chose 11 people and those are the people they came up with!? I also don't agree with the person who was eliminated, Arnaldo. I think he deserved another chance for sure. I guess I'm being judgemental but I feel that I could do this! Grr.. some of them aren't even stylish! There's a few people I like though. One of them is DyShaun. He reminds me of Andre3000. Cologne is cute, but she hasn't really said too much. Both Kate and Megan have awful personalities. I'm sorry! This is another show which will be added to my list! <3

song of the day: Move For Me

This song is by Kaskade and Canada's own Deadmau5. He was in Vancouver not too long ago!! I love this song! It's amazing to drive to late at night coming back from the club. <3

featured blog: Your Face

I stumbled across a sick and talented blog. It's called Your Face. The concept of this blog is that you send in a picture of yourself and he draw a pic of you and posts it up. It's pretty sick. I want to send in my pic and get it drawn up, but I can't pick one! Such a sick idea. Above is an example of one of them! <3

Stylista

Tonight is the premiere of Stylista. I wish I were on this show. Basically there are 11 aspiring fashion enthusiasts working towards an editorial job at Elle magazine as assitants to Elle's Fashion News Director. Anne Slowey is the director and is demanding and well respected. It's like The Devil Wears Prada! The grand prize is a paid editorial position at Elle magazine, a paid lease on a Manhattan aparment and a clothing allowance at H&M for $100 000. Jealous much! The show starts at 9 tonight... except I have work.. LAME! <3

saying goodbye to the past

So today my guy friend leaves. I told him not to contact me today, because the way we said bye was the way I want to leave things. I guess this is the next chapter of my life or so it feels. I could so imagine my life as a reality show or maybe I should make a book. There are so many dramatic, interesting madness that goes on in my life that it would almost be comparable to Gossip Girl? Minus the super rich. But you know, I'll get there one day.

Anyways, the point of this post is because I'm moving on in my hunt for finding a new boy. A new prospect. I mean I can't linger on this while he's off meeting random girls and I don't even want to think of it. I have a few suspects in mind. You might find this really weird, but the thing is, if guys can play girls, why can't girls do the same? I know it goes against all dating standards, but I guess it just means I'm not 100% ready to settle down till I find the right guy. Someone who won't pick up and leave on me! I guess it's just me hanging out with too many guys and them rubbing off on me, but honestly I've learnt alot through this and flat out, it's fun. It's a game, flat out. <3

Warren Miller's Children of Winter

Guess what?! Warren Miller's Children of Winter is going to be airing at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre November 1st and 2nd. This showcases the best of skiing and snowboarding shot in Japan, Austria, BC (yeeeeahhh), Alaska and Iceland. Rumour has it that if you go you get passes for Whistler at 2 for 1! So who wants to come with!? <3

song of the day: Quiet in my Town

Friday, the 24th, marks the death anniversary of Peyman Zavari, a guy I went to high school with. I remember this day like it was yesterday. It was the saddest moment, yet it brought everyone together. It's sad to think that we have to move on without this person in our lives. He brought smiles to so many faces and influenced alot of people. He simply had so much going for him. As my exams have come to an end for this week, it's allowed me to think alot more. He will always be remembered. So take this time to listen to this song and listen to the lyrics. Reflect on a person that you have lost in your life. Today's time and age is difficult to cherish the moments of today, but let's be the best we can be so we don't regret.

This songs for you Peyman. R.I.P. You will always be remembered and loved. xoxo <3

R.I.P. Richard Blackwell

The one and only, legendary fashion critic, Richard Blackwell passed away on Sunday. He was 86 years old. Apparently he has been ill for sometime now. He died of an intestinal infection. Richard Blackwell is known for his worst dressed celebs list. May he rest in peace. <3

Hennessy sneakers

Yep, that's Hennessy as in the liquor. These bad boys will be available December 1st at JhungYuro.com. It feels so random and out of their range to have Hennessy sneakers.. am I wrong? These sneakers are going for $300 with a limit amount of 500 pairs. It is said that:

"The goal was for the Hennessy Celebration Hi-Top to bring to life the premium uniqueness and power of the Hennessy brand and its global influence on the urban tastemaker."

<3

we started nothing

Does it really mean anything when someone enters your life, you become closer than close and then they leave? Do you regret this time, or do you savour the moments that you guys had and reminisce on the good times?

There are some times that I miss and other times that I don't. Either way, I will always remember these experiences. Through all of them I have learned the better outcomes which has helped me to grow and form to who I am today. I'm not saying I'm perfect, because I'm far from it. But since my friend is leaving with no deadline to coming back, it's got me thinking a lot.

It's just that I miss the fact that I won't be getting the weekend phone calls, random texts, talking everyday or making those memorable moments together. It's just gone. Taken out of your life. Without a choice. I guess that what determines the saying "life isn't fair".

I don't know what I'll do from here, but there isn't another choice but to move on. It just sucks.
So did I learn something? Or did I get anything out of our friendship? I don't know. But I'm glad he came along in my life. <3

Hello Kitty Mania

I was reading someone's blog and found a section on Hello Kitty luxury items. Here's a few things I found neat.

Sanrio has created the world's largest statue of Hello Kitty in Tokyo. It is 2.5 meters high and 1.7 meters wide. She is covered in tiles.

Here's something I want. It's a Hello Kitty Swarovski Zippo. It is a pink brass and has the Hello Kitty logo on both sides. There are also Swarovski Crystals on this bad boy. It comes in an acrylic case and is a limited edition lighter! <3

Gaultier water

Evian, yep as in the water has slowly but surely been entering the world of fashion. Every year during the winter holidays, Evian teams up with a European artist which are known to be collectors items. Last year was Christian Lacroix, and this year happens to be Jean Paul Gaultier. Word has it that only 7 Haute Couture bottles will be released worldwide. These will be dressed in Baccarat crystals and will be at an event in Paris before travelling the world. They will be auctioned and proceeds will be donated to RAMSAR to preserve the planet's wetlands. <3

what are you doing to me

Goodbyes are the worst, especially when you never know when you'll see someone again. It's even worse when you set the date that was the last time you'd see them, but they keep coming back and wanting to hang out. It makes things that much harder. Just having a person be apart of your life and then having them leave half way across the world is a shock. I mean that's it. No more text messages, phone calls, bumping into them or just hanging out. It's just taken out of your life and you're supposed to be happy about it, happy for them. So many people I know have left me in good old Vancouver, but at least them come back every 6 months. Not this time. <3

song of the day: If I were a Boy

I love this song at the moment. It's Beyonce's new song, and I can't get enough of it. I don't really listen to the radio, but the one time I did, this song came on. YouTube won't let me embed it in this post so sorry!!! But download it! <3

Here's the chorus:

If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I’d be a better man.
I’d listen to her
Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
Cause he’s taken you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed

picture of the day: from reality to cartoon

This picture was taken by the Sartorialist. It reminds me of this Fafi drawing! <3

there is not good in goodbye.

Last night was my friend's going away party. I was very on and off this whole week about going. I posted that I was for sure going, but then backed out and eventually got convinced into going. I'm glad I did... I think. I got hammered last night which was long overdue. We just headed to a local bar and it was sooo busy! I even got hit on by my friend's brother and friend and he had to intervene it was quite funny. There were so many little details that you might as well have been there. But it was a very interesting night.

The sad part was that me and him said bye very abruptly and not the way I had pictured. They're partying again tonight but I have a million thins on my to do list which are mandatory. I hate goodbyes. It's weird how every time I get close to someone they leave.

On top of it all Canucks lost. <3

the collab is nearing!!

Remember I mentioned this a long long time ago that Comme des Garcons and H&M were collaborating? Well, I did. And, Comme des Garcons line will hit H&M Tokyo November 8th, while the rest of us wait till the 13th. There's going to be lots of polkadots and unusal, uncontemporary designs. So far, I don't really like what I see. I think it's the way it's put together and the models... the models are a whole other story. I do like some of the pieces individually though. I dunno, I have to see the tangible garments. But don't get me wrong, I do love Comme des Garcons, and they probably will have other things! <3

featured beautician: Bobbi Brown

Bobbi Brown is a top notch beauty line. It is most make-up artists picks. Anyhow, she is creating a book which is Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual. It is the buzz going around and is more of a textbook, the make-up bible perhaps? Also, Bobbi Brown is opening an academy next year and courses are taught at Montclair State and Emerson College. On top of everything else, Bobbi Brown's next edition will be the Bobbi Brights palette which is inspired by the "fun kit" Bobbi Brown used during Fashion week. It has 35 shades. Also, a SPF 15 skin foundation is coming out which is long lasting along with hydrating. You get the very best out of it. I want the book! But it only comes out in January! <3

the fashion world of celebrity chefs

How do chefs keep their shirts so clean?! I know I would get mine dirty if I was cooking up a storm in the kitchen! Well thanks to Thomas Pink, he has created a Pristine Shirt which goes for $180. It is water and stain repellent. It looks like a normal shirt! Just crazy, yet a marvelous idea. <3

Millionaire Fair

No joke. Are you made of money and are easily available to get up and travel?! Well head to Moscow for November 27th- 30th as they will be having their annual Millionaire Fair. What is it exactly? It's exactly how it sounds. Basically, millionaires from all over come to this fair to purchase luxury goods. This includes rare cars to rare diamonds or furs. Nope, it's not a dream. Even if you're not a millionaire it's something great which I would love to check out. <3

bye bye CosmoGirl

Yep. Believe it or not, CosmoGirl is closing up shop come December. Not sure exactly why, but it is stated, "The man has gotten hold of Hearst's teen tome, CosmoGirl, and gave it a bad mean mugging, subsequently forcing the fashion magazine to shutdown". Also, numbers have been decling: "Through October, CosmoGirl had 527 ad pages, down 15.5 percent from last year. (By contrast, Seventeen had 693 pages in that period, down 8.8 percent, and Teen Vogue had 919 pages, down 5.9 percent.) Newsstand was off 18 percent in the first half of the year, to an average of 302,800, and the total circulation was 1.4 million." I remember when I used to read CosmoGirl. It was the it magazine as a pre-teen. Those with subscriptions will start to receive Seventeen magazine instead. <3

exhausted

Yay! The stress level has gone down a little bit. If you care, my presentation went really well and I think I did well on my accounting midterm. Next are more midterms and studying. Not fun, but it is the weekend and thank God for that! I got back from school not too long ago and I've been there since 8am. Currently it's 11. Barf. Not exactly my fav way to spend a Thursday night. So tomorrow will be Friday! I really should be staying in, but it is a significant going a party which I must make an appearance at. It's just at a local bar but let's get waisted!! Because I haven't in a long time, and I'm recovering from being sick and I straight up need to get out and let loose. You should too! <3

my apologies

I'm just taking a quick break from studying to let you know that I have been super busy and I apologize for not writing for half a week! The stress is up so I will be blogging less, but after tomorrow my stress level will go down as it's the last midterm of the week. Next week is only high stress Monday, Tuesday. Monday I have 2 midterms & a presentation. Tuesday I have 1 midterm & a presentation. Anyways, I better get back to studying and practicing for my presentation tomorrow! So you'll see a million posts as I have missed 3 days. I actually miss it! <3

pictures of the day: BOOOOOOOM!

Gotta support the locals. So I stumbled across this website that's pretty sick. This website was created by Jeff Hamada, and for some reason the name sounds ever so familiar! He is a designer from Vancouver, basing most of his work on photos, art, design, and basically all the creative aspects of art. Not all of the work is by him, but he def has style. (The website is called BOOM, and that is why I titled it so). <3

who said wearing toilet paper wasn't it?!

Cashmere (the leading brand of Canadian toilet paper), sponsored a fashion show of couture dresses made of toilet paper. It is the 5th year of this madness. On top of it all, if you didn't know it is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Cashmere will be donating 25 cents from every package to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. 8 Canadian fashion designers were included including: Arthur Mendonça, David Dixon, Joeffer Caoc, Evan Biddell, winner of Project Runway Canada, Joyce Gunhouse and Judy Cornish for Comrags, Lucian Matis, Thien Le and Ula Zukowska. Pretty sick idea eh!? The dresses look like real ones! Imagine how difficult and careful the models had to walk in order not to tear their dresses! Here are a few. The last one is my fav.<3

2nd the best!

Yeaaaaahh.. The Canucks won AGAIN last night against the Flames. They were down 3-1 and managed to bring themselves back up. Always have faith. Next game is against Washington. The beginning of the season is so exciting. <3

song of the day: Don't Call Me Baby

Think song is sooo old. It's by Madison Avenue. My sister said it's soooo me when it comes to boys. It's kind of funny because it's true, but at the end of the day, doesn't everyone want to find real love?

I didn't know what lyrics to put in so I put ALMOST the whole song. I love it.

Don't think that I'm not strong
I'm the one to take you on
Don't underestimate me boy
I'll make you sorry you were born
You don't know me
The way you really should
You sure misunderstood

Dont' call me baby
You got some nerve, and baby that'll never do
You know I don't belong t o you
It's time you knew I'm not your baby
I belong to me, so
Don't call me baby

Behind my smile is my IQ
I must admit, this does not sit, with the likes of you
You're really sweet
Mmm, you're really nice
But didn't mama ever tell you not to play with fire?

<3

yeeeeahh Canucks

Thursday was the season opener for the Canucks. I was studying. So sad. It was a beautiful game though! Canucks really gave the crowd hope for this season as they scored 6-0 against the Calgary Flames. The Flames usually ALWAYS outdo us. Anyways, the next game is tonight! Oooh and it's Thanksgiving so we get a loooong weekend! This means more time to study... haha. And hopefully get some time to party! <3

movie night

Yesterday I was at school for 12 hours working on a project, so when I got home I was just exhausted. So my daddy and I went to the video store and rented a bunch of movies. I was always told to watch Made of Honour because it reminded my friends of me and what outcome I'll be put in. When the movie was finished I wasn't tired so I watched Factory Girl which I always wanted to see. So my thoughts on the movies.

Made of Honour
was your typical chick flick. Everyone has told me to watch it because it reminds them of me as I'm really good friends with guys. But I don't know. I get that the two have been so close for so long, but all of a sudden to be able to sex with each other? Wouldn't that be kind of awkward? Probably cuz I've never thought of my guy friends in that way, but I guess if it's meant to happen it will.

Factory Girl
was a pop art movie based on the life of Edie Sedgwick. She was an American socialite, actress, and heiress who stared in several of Andy Warhol's films. She was such a sweet and flamboyant girl and she entered into Warhol's life. Like most people trying to make it big she ended up doing drugs and in the end overdosed at the age of 28. The movie is a bit boring and hard to follow in the beginning but it's more of an artsy film and captures a very artsy side. I don't know if I liked it or not. I love Sienna Miller. And I like the theory behind the film. It reminded me of a mix between the movie Gia and Requiem for a Dream. But overall I loved how it was filmed. In this movie, Miller looks exactly like Sedgwick! <3

too busy to care?

Lately, that has been me. This is exactly what school does to you. I've just been too busy to care or stay close with people and it's a pretty sad fact. I think a lot of people just get caught up in the fact that they have to take care of themselves first. Especially in a North American culture, there is so much materialism and even the TV shows are about selfish little brats. Haha, not saying I'm not the one to blame. I mean I do admit it. I've been extremely busy going about my life. But, this is not fair to the people who love you. I know I'm opening up a huge can of worms here, and frankly I don't even know where I'm going with this but it's just my thoughts of the day.

People are all for themselves, and I've come to realize that only true friends will care about you, take the time to listen, and no matter how busy, have the time for you. It's only when you realize you're being selfish when something dramatic happens like a life being taken away, or falling from the top. It's only when you hit rock bottom when you know that something is wrong an you want change, and it's sad to think that that's what we're resorting to now. That people are selfish until the worst happens. I've been coming across a lot of people like that and it's just depressing.
It's created an eyeopener and has helped me realized how I can change for the better and what I do and don't want in life.

I'll admit, these weeks have been exploding with stress, and like a blog post over the weekend I'm just not myself, but there are so many things in life I do have going for me, why am I complaining?
Our society whines and complains about every little thing. If it's sunny, it's too hot, if it's snowing it's too cold. Well either take off your clothes or put more on! Just kidding, but I just think that people complain to hear themselves and once again it relates back to themselves. It makes a person shallow and boring. Just get out of that habit and be more insightful. Have your own thoughts and create your own world by making it better for the people around you.

We are all the same in the end. Just flesh and blood. We do react differently to different personalities and people but that's natural. I'm not saying to go be a carebear and love everyone, I'm just saying appreciate the things in life. One day it will all come to an end. So change for tomorrow. <3

throwing it out there

Just in case you didn't know, N.E.R.D. stands for No one Ever Really Dies. Pharrell says:

It's our life. N.E.R.D is just a basic belief. People's energies are made of their souls. When you die, that energy may disperse but it isn't destroyed. Energy cannot be destroyed. It can manifest in a different way but even then it's like their souls are going somewhere. If it's going to heaven or hell or even if it's going into a fog or somewhere in the atmosphere to lurk unbeknownst to itself, it's going somewhere.
I love his theory behind things and how he's insightful. Makes him even sexier! <3
